SPRING AUDITIONS: Grades 3-8

  • 1st United Methodist Church of Western Springs 4300 Howard Ave Western Springs, IL 60558 USA (map)

On Wednesday, February 6th, we will be holding AUDITIONS for kids in Grades 3-8 for the following musicals:

  • Grades 3-5: “James and the Giant Peach”

  • Grades 6-8: “The Addams Family”

PLEASE NOTE:

IN ORDER TO AUDITION, YOU MUST FIRST REGISTER FOR THESE PRODUCTIONS! ONLY THOSE REGISTERED WILL BE SENT AN OFFICIAL AUDITION INVITATION! These productions have a MAXIMUM CAPACITY LIMIT. Once that has been reached on the online registration, registration will be CLOSED.

These times are tentative. You will be sent an audition invitation in which you will be able to pick a time to audition.

TO PREPARE

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song. Usually 32 bars is about the length of ONE verse and ONE chorus. Your song does NOT have to be from the show you are auditioning from. Please have sheet music ready, preferably with a piano part for the accompanist. For this age group, we DO allow you to hold your music if you are nervous. We want you to be comfortable! We do encourage you to be sure to look up from the music when you can! Due to the number of auditions we will need to see, please let your child know that if they go beyond 32 bars (measures), the team may have to cut them off. This is something that can happen at any professional audition and does not mean your child is not doing well. Remind your child that the team is ROOTING FOR THEM! We want them to succeed! Auditions are CLOSED, which means it will only be the individual child auditioning in front of the production team only.

Not everyone will be asked to come for CALLBACKS on Sunday, February 10th. It is neither good/bad to be called back or NOT to be called back. It simply means that the team needs to see more.

We wish all of our young actors and actresses the best of luck at auditions! Remember, it takes the entire cast to make a production successful! There may be roles that have more lines or more to sing/dance— but in the grand scheme of things, we all support each other. We are ALL supporting roles. We can all have a moment or two to shine on stage!
